- Voxtrot : Introduction & Real Life Version on their last self titles album. Indie-pop style with some beautiful string arrangements.
- The National: Boxer. they´re touring a lot this year. so if you get a chance to see them, go there!
- Unkle: Burn my shadow. dramatic, somehow aggressive, featuring Ian Astbury. Actually, the whole album “War Stories” is great.
- Stars: After the War. They´re a hub in the network of Arts & Crafts record label (Feist, Apostle of Hustle, Broken Social Scene,…) . The voices of singers Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan correspond to each other in a way you might melt down. Some critical statement is allowed on their record cover. (oh my god)
- Sigur Rós: Hvarf-Heim. The DVD is one of the most beautiful releases of a musicfilm ever! The CD is of course worth listening, too. Their gig in Arena on Juli 8th might become a highlight of the year.
- Radiohead: In Rainbows. I know I´m not the only fan of Radiohead. My impression is that crititcs set the bar higher than with any other band. To keep it simple: The album is brilliant and I don´t want to miss it on my 2007 musiclist.
- Colin Vallon Trio: “Ailleurs”. The record was released in 2006, but it took the Jazzfestival Saalfelden to get in touch with the music of this outstanding Swiss Jazztrio.
- Falling Slowly, by Glen Hasard/The Frames or Glen Hasard/Markéta Irglová. It was the surprise of this year Oscar night. A song of the independent movie ONCE filmed with two handcameras. The Frames and Glen Hasard are of the best live indiebands. 21-year okd Markéta Irglová more than a talent. Watch their speeches on youtube.
- Trentemøller: The Trentemøller Chronicles. 2 CDs on some of Trentemøller´s highlights (tracks & remixes) so far. One on my electronica favourite.
- The Heritage Orchestra: ok, the record is from 2006. I saw them at Wilsonic Festival (highly recommended!) in Bratislava. Excellent arrangements, great musicians, playing electronic music tunes in an orchestral setting. Watch out for more to come. The Times wrote: “ …Combining cool textures and an epic chamber spread, favouring extended development, with billowing strings creating awesome filmic atmospheres ”
